Comprehensive overhaul (CO)

This is the original standard and the one by which JRS work has been judged.

Comprehensive overhaul method:

When work is received it is washed to remove all external residues. Multiple applications are dismantled to individual carburettors. Each carburettor is fully dismantled (if CV units the throttle shaft stays in place). All parts are cleaned and rinsed in ultrasonic tanks. All components are then air dried at 200 psi and bodies are tested to ensure all air and fuel passageways are clear. All parts are then carefully examined and if anything requires replacement the customer is advised and decides on what, if anything is to be done. Each carburettor is then carefully rebuilt with correct static settings.  Multiple applications are reassembled, linkages etc are lubricated and the carburettors are visually synchronised.

The completed assembly is tested for fuel tightness.  It is then carefully repacked and returned to the customer with a letter that confirms the work completed, together with notes on carburetor related matters.

Comprehensive overhaul plus component restoration (COCR)

This is an extension to the tried and tested CO detailed above.  Introduced 4 years ago, many customers have taken advantage of the flexibility of this service which is completed in accordance with your wishes. The part restoration service options are detailed below.  All levels of restoration are available so you choose what you need.  Concours restoration is a popular choice. Illustrations in the Gallery show what is possible.

Method:
In addition to the Comprehensive Overhaul specification, selected components are refinished to a standard that you specify.  Part restoration options available to you may include:

•Linishing, polishing and replating of external steel fixings

•Mirror polishing of alloy components

•Vapour or bead blasting of castings

•Polished stainless steel cap head fixings and spring washers in place of the steel originals.

There is not much that cannot be done and I am happy to discus possibilities with you.  All you have to do is pick up the phone or email me with your ideas.  The Gallery (see links above) has a variety of illustrations of past work, including “before and “after” illustrations of various carburetor assemblies.

Turnaround and costs.

This is a custom service and turnaround and costs will be supplied when your requirements are known.

The Kawasaki and Honda illustrations in the Gallery (see links above) are a fair reflection on what can be achieved – operationally, as good as they can be and externally – judge for yourself. Costs seldom exceed £450 for a set of 4 carburettors except possibly for Concours quality work. Your requirements are costed for you to decide on what, if any restoration work should be undertaken.
